The Independent Hotel Show (IHS) in Munich once again proved to be a fascinating meeting point for the hospitality industry, especially for independent hoteliers.
A key topic that surfaced repeatedly was the question of what German hoteliers expect from modern software solutions. The trends and insights we observed were both surprising and valuable, offering a clear understanding of their priorities.
Before the event, we assumed that price would be the decisive factor for many hoteliers when selecting new software. However, this was not the case! While the cost structure remains important, priorities have shifted. Today, German hoteliers place greater emphasis on efficiency, user-friendliness, and integrated solutions rather than focusing solely on the lowest price.
One of the clearest takeaways from the IHS was the growing demand for “all-in-one” solutions. The days when hoteliers relied on separate tools for channel management, property management systems (PMS), and revenue management systems (RMS) seem to be behind us.
The reasons for this shift are obvious:
Beyond integration, flexibility is a significant factor. No two hotels are the same, and independent properties, in particular, look for solutions that cater to their unique needs—whether that involves creating a tailored guest experience or streamlining internal processes.
Conversations at the IHS made one thing clear: German hoteliers are looking for partners, not just software providers. A good solution must not only excel technically but also offer outstanding support, quick implementation, and a deep understanding of the industry.
For us as a hotel software provider, this means that listening is key. Only by understanding hoteliers’ needs can we develop the right solutions—solutions that not only make their day-to-day operations easier but also deliver lasting value.
